What we collect, and what we do with it.

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read, roughly where they're reading from, what device they use and how they found us. It sets cookies in your browser to do that. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address, and our fonts load from Google.

The contact form asks for your name, email, role, phone and message. If you tell us a contribution is coming, that form also asks for your mailing address and the amount, method and date, so we can send wire instructions and a receipt.

Online contributions run through Givebutter, which processes the payment. We receive your name, email, address and the amount so we can thank you and send a receipt. We never see your full card number. Contributions by donor-advised fund, wire or ACH come to us with the details the sender or sponsor provides.

The footer signup sends your email address to Mailchimp. You confirm it before we write to you, and every email has a link to unsubscribe.

The application, hosted on Airtable, asks about you, your co-founders and your company, including how you've faced barriers to accessing capital. Founders who meet our criteria record an interview on Hireflix, and founders who advance meet a member of our investment committee for a live interview, which we record and transcribe for the investment committee. Our team and our investment committee, which includes members of the board, read applications to decide on an investment.

To answer you, send receipts and acknowledgments for your taxes, evaluate applications, support the founders we back, report on our work to the foundations and partners who fund it, improve this site, and keep the records the law requires.

The companies that run the tools above: Netlify, Google, Mailchimp, Givebutter, Airtable and Hireflix, plus our bank and accounting software for contributions. We share information when the law requires it.

We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing. We name supporters publicly only with their permission.

Google Analytics cookies are the only ones we set. The Givebutter and Airtable forms, where they appear, are run by those companies under their own policies. You can block cookies in your browser or use Google's opt-out add-on. This site doesn't respond to browsers' Do Not Track signals.

Unsubscribe from any email at any time. Send us a note through our contact page to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We'll keep what the law requires, such as records of contributions.

We limit who can see personal information, use providers with strong security, and keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or the law requires.

This site isn't for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information.

If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top.
